Directly reports to :  Laser Radar PM (to be hired) or Jos Jans (in case no LR PM is hired in time)

1. JOB PURPOSE :

The Laser Radar Applications Engineer plays a key role in the successful roll-out of automated inspection systems based on Laser Radar in the automotive and the aerospace industry by providing expert knowledge about Laser Radar from initial system design up to final buy-off.

2. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

• Develop and document best practices on how to use Laser Radar in an optimal way for different measurement tasks in the automotive and aerospace industry
• Train our application engineers, resellers and integrators worldwide on the correct use of these best practices
• Advise as part of the sales process, NM sales and integrators on optimal test cell layout and system measurement performance
• Troubleshoot system performance issues and help field engineers with the successful system pass-off

Functional competencies

• Engineering degree
• Following experience is seen as an asset
o Dimensional metrology
o Practical use of inspection softwares like PolyWorks or Metrolog
o In-line inspection in the automotive or aerospace industry
o Production automation
o Hands-on experience with laser trackers
• Good communication skills both verbally and written in English with additional languages as a benefit
• Strong technical interest combined with common business sense
• Hands-on person showing systematic approach to handle complex problems
• Willing to travel regularly both inside US and worldwide
